Police say Las Vegas man died 11 days after July crash on Torrey Pines Drive

A Las Vegas man died July 20, several days after crashing his vehicle into two parked cars, police said Tuesday.

Police said Edward Noordhoek, 71, drove his 2005 Hyundai into two unoccupied cars about 7:30 p.m. on July 9 and initially refused to be taken to the hospital.

Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate the Hyundai was traveling north on Torrey Pines Drive when it drifted to the right shoulder and crashed near Celeste Avenue, police said.

Police and medical personnel responded to the scene, but Noordhoek “refused medical transport,” according to a Metro news release.

Noordhoek was taken to University Medical Center the next day and was admitted. He died July 20 at the hospital, police said.

The Clark County coroner ruled that Noordhoek died from complications of a blunt force abdominal injury.

Metro’s fatal detail received the reports from the coroner Tuesday.

The passenger in the Hyundai, Ginger Noordhoek, 67, suffered minor injuries, but it is not clear whether she was hospitalized.
