Second woman dies following Saturday night crash

A second person is dead following a Saturday night, two-vehicle crash on the 215 Beltway, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

Preliminary investigation revealed that about 7 p.m. Saturday, a white 1996 Toyota Camry was westbound on the Beltway east of Decatur Boulevard, traveling in the right lane behind a blue 2003 Mercedes E320, NHP said in a Sunday Release.

The Camry rear-ended the Mercedes and the Mercedes stopped on the shoulder. The Toyota continued west on the Decatur off-ramp and traveled through the rocky area north of the ramp, crossed over the Decatur northbound and southbound lanes and traveled off of the road into a block wall.

The impact caused the back of the vehicle to vault into the air, rotating the vehicle and leaving it on its wheels facing east in a parking lot near Wagon Trail Avenue, where part of the vehicle caught fire.

Two of the Camry’s three occupants died. The 21-year-old Wisconsin woman in the passenger seat of the Camry died at the scene. Her identity will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s office once next of kin has been notified.

A 58-year-old Las Vegas woman, Patricia Tucker, died later at University Medical Center. Tucker’s official cause of death from the Clark County coroner’s office was multiple blunt force trauma injuries from the crash. Her death was ruled an accident.

The driver of the Camry, a 25-year-old man from Wisconsin, was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition.

The three occupants in the Mercedes, all from Las Vegas, were uninjured in the crash. The occupants of both cars were related, according to NHP’s Trooper Loy Hixson, and they were on their way home.
