Six displaced after Monday night house fire

Six people were displaced after a house fire late Monday night near the intersection of Vegas and Torrey Pines drives, according to the Las Vegas Fire Department.

It took fire crews less than 10 minutes to put out the blaze that did not injure anyone, but caused an estimated $90,000 in damage, according to a news release.

The cause was undetermined, but two teenagers who live in the house told investigators that they saw flames coming from a table that had a lamp on it, fire department spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

Firefighters were called at 10:18 p.m. when multiple people reported seeing smoke coming out of the two-story home on Canyon Rose Way, Szymanski said. They encountered “heavy flames and smoke” coming from the bedroom.

The smoke plumes coming out of the home were so prominent that firefighters could see them as they were leaving their station to head to the scene, Szymanski said.

The Red Cross was providing aid to those who were displaced, according to the news release.
