A strong Pacific storm is expected to bring wind and rain to the Las Vegas Valley and snow to the mountains this week, according to the National Weather Service.
The service reported a 70 percent chance of rain in the valley this afternoon and continuing into Wednesday morning.
The storm also will bring 4 to 8 inches of new snow to Mount Charleston. Wind gusts are expected to reach up to 50 mph with temperatures between 20 and 40 degrees.
According to the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort, the season snowfall is 55 inches.
Temperatures in the valley are expected to reach 63 degrees with gusts of up to 32 mph.
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area will receive rain and possibly snow with winds around 45 mph. No snow accumulation is forecasted in this area, according to the weather service.
