Tomiyasu Elementary students sent to junior high after power outage

East Las Valley elementary students got a taste of things to come Monday when the power went out at their school and they spent the day at a junior high down the street.

Tomiyasu Elementary students were taken by school bus to Cannon Junior High after the power went out on a day with a forecast high of 100 degrees.

The elementary students were to finish the day’s classes at the junior high, then will be bused back to Tomiyasu at the end of the day so parents can pick them up like normal, according to the school district.

NV Energy and the school district are working to get the power back on.
