Letter to the editor, Oct. 15-21

I think it more likely that Allen Lane was named for Harry Allen, who was a banker and owner of the local power company prior to it becoming Nevada Power (North Las Vegas View, Oct. 1). As a young surveyor in the mid ’50s , I seem to recall an Allen Ranch near the old Kiel Ranch. Old survey books should show that. Harry Allen lived on Seventh Street near Las Vegas High School. His office was on the corner of Third Street and Stewart Avenue opposite the old U.S. Post Office/Federal Building.
