Man beat, slit Kingman woman's throat for her car

KINGMAN — An ex-convict found guilty Thursday of murdering a Kingman woman in September 2011 faces mandatory prison time.

Michael Dobson, 51, beat 76-year-old Ruby Caldwell, slit her throat and stole her vehicle, prosecutors said.

Dobson was driving Caldwell’s car when he was pulled over and arrested by officers about eight hours after their investigation began.

The jury found Dobson guilty of second-degree murder and theft. He faces 10-25 years in prison when sentenced Nov. 8.
