Man charged with domestic assault, arson in Sunday night fire

One man was arrested Sunday night for domestic assault and arson after a house fire caused more than $100,000 in damage.

Firefighters responded to multiple calls just before 10:30 p.m. reporting heavy black smoke near Windmill Lane and Maryland Parkway. The source of the smoke was a single-story home at 1131 Sleetridge Drive.

Las Vegas police were responding to a domestic disturbance at that address at the same time, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

Firefighters had the fire under control just before 11 p.m. The fire caused extensive damage to the home and a car in the garage. The cost was estimated between $100,000 and $150,000.

Paramedics treated a man and a woman on the scene, but they were not transported to a hospital. Police arrested the man in connection with domestic assault and arson, the fire department said.

The incident is still under investigation.
