RENO - A 51-year-old Reno woman will serve three to 7½ years in prison for the death of a toddler who got into her prescription methadone while she was baby-sitting him in January 2009.

Washoe District Judge David Hardy sentenced Gina Lindquist on Thursday after she pleaded guilty to child neglect causing substantial harm in the death of 4-year-old Sammy Sharber.

His mother, Angela Huntington, told the Reno Gazette-Journal She blames Lindquist for her son's death .

Lindquist admitted she was tired and being lazy when she left the drug on a nightstand when they went to sleep. She told the judge she loved the little boy like he was her own son.
