North Las Vegas assemblyman gets new Clark County job

Assemblyman Tryone Thompson, D-North Las Vegas, will have a new position with Clark County effective April 21, Tim Burch, director of the county’s Social Service Department, announced on Wednesday morning.

His new role will be senior training coordinator in the county’s Organizational Development Center. His current salary is $79,873 and will stay the same in his new position.

Thompson now serves as the regional initiatives coordinator for the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition. He will continue to coordinate homeless planning initiatives through May 16.

Recruitment to fill his current position will begin immediately to help reduce any gap in services, according to Burch.

Burch said this is a plan officials began to work on with Thompson a few months back, knowing that his current position requires a full-time person. Challenges would arise if he had to be gone for an entire state legislative session.
