A 31-year-old man died when the car he was riding in collided with a pole on Eastern Avenue south of Harris Avenue Sunday morning.

According to Las Vegas police, the driver of a 2002 Chevy Tahoe southbound on Eastern Avenue was speeding and failed to maintain the lane, crashing head-on with a wooden power pole about 1:30 a.m.

The passenger was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
