Pedestrian in critical condition after being hit by van

A man is in critical condition after an auto-pedestrian accident early Saturday morning in the east side of the valley.

Las Vegas police responded about 3:11 a.m. to the intersection of Boulder Highway and Flamingo Road after a man was struck by a car.

Witness statements and evidence at the scene indicate that the driver of a 2012 Hyundai Sonata was traveling east on Flamingo, approaching Boulder highway, as a man was crossing south on Flamingo just west of the intersection, outside of the crosswalk. Police said the pedestrian is approximately 70 years old.

The pedestrian was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle waited at the scene for police to arrive.

The roads were reopened about 7:30 a.m. Police are still investigating the fault of the accident.
