Pedestrian struck, killed by pickup in northwestern Arizona

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Friday in Kingman, Ariz., about 100 miles southeast of Las Vegas.

The woman was identified as 64-year-old Carol Axt. She suffered severe head trauma, a broken leg and multiple lacerations.

Axt was pushing a shopping cart and a bicycle when she was struck in the 2500 block of Airway Avenue about 12 p.m.

Arizona police spokeswoman Jennifer Sochocki said the pedestrian stepped into the path of a 1998 Dodge pickup that was traveling west.

Axt died while being treated at Kingman Regional Medical Center.
