Police cite bathroom incident in case

An argument that started Friday over a breach of bathroom courtesy ended with one man dead, another injured and a third arrested for murder, according to Las Vegas police.

Nicholas Eagles, 31, was arrested Monday on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon in the shooting death of 38-year-old Robert Hayes, police said. Eagles is being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center.

According to a Las Vegas police report, Eagles and Hayes were at a small party at a home on Blankenship Avenue, near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Carey Avenue, when an argument began around 9:30 p.m.

According to witness statements in the report, Eagles, known as "R-Wac," was in the bathroom when Hayes mistakenly entered. Although Hayes left the bathroom immediately, Eagles was bothered by the incident and confronted Hayes several minutes later, witnesses said.

During the argument, Eagles pulled a handgun from the waistband of his pants. His brother, Aaron Eagles, attempted to grab the gun. Nicholas Eagles pulled away and fired at Hayes, the report states.

Nicholas Eagles then fled and a woman called police, the report states.

Hayes, who was bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds, was found by medical personnel in the yard. He was transported to University Medical Center, where he later died.

Aaron Eagles was found inside the garage with gunshot wounds to his abdomen and arm and was transported to UMC. His condition is unknown.
