The man sought by police in connection with the sexual assault of a child under 14 was no stranger to the family.
Guadalupe “Lupe” Barrales, 32, has been named as a suspect in an Oct. 17 sexual assault near Commerce Street and Carey Avenue, North Las Vegas police said.
“He was a trusted person known to the family,” North Las Vegas police spokesman Tim Bedwell said. “He had access to the home. He spent a lot of time there.”
Police said the child was assaulted while at home.
Barrales is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall with black hair and brown eyes. Police said he has a prominent scar across the left side of his forehead.
Barrales has no known address but works as a dishwasher at a business near Alta Drive and Rampart Boulevard, police said. He drives a white 1997 Nissan pickup with a Nevada license plate, 065VVJ.
