Police: Woman detained by residents after stealing crossing guard's car

A woman struck a parked car with a car she stole from a crossing guard Wednesday morning, police said.

The crossing guard tried to stop the woman, 26-year-old Vanessa Gonzalez, from stealing his car but Gonzalez pushed him to the ground, according to Las Vegas police.

She then hit a parked car near Antelope Way and Pinedale Avenue, and tried to flee the scene on foot but neighborhood residents stopped her, Las Vegas police spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said.

The crossing guard was transported to Mountain View Hospital, with minor injuries.

Gonzalez faces charges of robbery and grand larceny. It is not clear yet if she was impaired.
