Report reveals details of life and death of woman

Kevin Gipson paid $50 in cash and $50 in weed for the .25 caliber handgun he used to kill his former girlfriend, according to Gipson's arrest report, released Monday.

Gipson, 26, told Las Vegas homicide detectives he was upset that 22-year-old Brittany Lavoll wouldn't let him see their two children.

So he called one of her co-workers, who told him Lavoll was working at a Jack in the Box on Lake Mead Boulevard at Buffalo Drive.

Early Thursday morning, he hid in the bushes at the restaurant and waited for her to arrive. She didn't see him as she parked.

Witnesses heard Lavoll scream for help, according to Gipson's arrest report. She was shot once in the head and collapsed next to her vehicle.

Lavoll's family told police that the couple had a sometimes violent relationship and that he had threatened her in the past, according to the arrest report. Family members also said that she had broken up with Gipson and did not have much contact with him.

Police arrested Gipson on one count of murder with a deadly weapon. He is being held at the Clark County Detention Center without bail.

Court records show he has a criminal record including charges of robbery and theft.
