Five years in a new era

BY ALAN MAIMON
REVIEW-JOURNAL

The terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, were a chilling reminder that America has enemies seeking to cause bloodshed on these shores. The raw emotion of the days and months after the attacks soon gave way to the day-to-day challenges of protecting the nation against another attack.

So far, America has not been revisited by the horrors of 9/11. But the attacks of that day have made a substantial impact on the nation's mind-set and mechanisms of self-protection.

In a three-part series, the Review-Journal examines the ways in which the threat of terrorism has left a mark on Southern Nevada.
