Simpson, Stewart to serve time in Nevada prison


O.J. Simpson was given a sentence Friday that will have him serve nine to 33 years in a Nevada state prison; co-defendant Clarence "C.J." Stewart will serve 71/2 to 27 years.

Each faced up to life in prison with the possibility of parole for their Oct. 3 convictions on 12 criminal counts that stemmed from a Sept. 13, 2007 confrontation with two sports memorabilia dealers.

Two felony counts of coercion with use of a deadly weapon were dismissed.

These are the remaining charges and sentences Simpson and Stewart faced, and what they received:

Two counts first-degree kidnapping, felony. Both faced life in prison or a definite term of 15 years, at the judge's discretion. Use of a deadly weapon adds a potential 1-20 years, pushing parole eligibility back a year.

Each received two concurrent sentences of 15 years, with an additional 1-6 years each for use of a deadly weapon. They are eligible for parole after five years on the kidnapping counts.

Two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, felony. Both faced probation or 1-6 years. Both were sentenced to 11/2 to 6 years on each count. Simpson's sentences run consecutively, totaling 3 to 12 years. Stewart's sentences on these charges run concurrently, totaling 11/2 to 6 years. These sentences run consecutive to the other charges.

Two counts of robbery with use of a deadly weapon, felony. Both faced mandatory 2-15 years, plus 1-15 years for use of a deadly weapon. Each received 5-15 years, with an additional 1-6 years for use of a deadly weapon. The sentences run concurrent with other prison time.

Burglary while in possession of a deadly weapon, felony. Both faced probation or 2-15 years. Simpson received 26 months to 10 years. Stewart received 26 months to 8 years. Sentences run concurrent with other prison time.

Conspiracy to commit kidnapping, felony. Both faced probation or 1-6 years. Each received 1-4 years with sentences concurrent with other prison time.

Conspiracy to commit robbery, felony. Both faced probation or 1-6 years. Each received 1-4 years with sentences concurrent with other prison time.

Conspiracy to commit a crime, gross misdemeanor. Both faced probation or 1 year in county jail. Each received 1 year in jail, with sentences concurrent with prison time.
