Student arrested for bringing loaded gun to school

Jamar Holman, an 18-year-old student at Mojave High School, was arrested Wednesday after authorities said they discovered that he had a loaded gun on school grounds.

Clark County School District police spokesman Lt. Ken Young said Holman was arrested about 6:50 a.m. while walking onto the North Las Vegas campus.

Officers monitoring the arrival of students stopped Holman, who was "acting strange," said Young.

Officers later discovered a stolen .38-caliber handgun in Holman's backpack, he said. Young said the student had not threatened any classmates.

"There was no targets or anything like that," he said.

Holman was taken to Clark County Detention Center and faces charges of possession of a dangerous weapon on school grounds, resisting a police officer and possession of stolen property.
