Ten displaced following Sunday apartment fire

Ten Las Vegas residents were displaced Sunday evening by an apartment fire near Karen Avenue and South Maryland Parkway.

The Clark County Fire Department responded about 4:30 p.m. to multiple reports of a fire at 1500 Karen Ave. First responders reported heavy flames in a second-story apartment. The fire had extended into the attic and an adjacent apartment unit.

Fire crews evacuated the adjacent apartments and were able to contain the fire to the original two units. The American Red Cross and apartment management assisted five adults and five children who were displaced by the fire.

Damage was estimated at $250,000. No injuries resulted from the blaze.
