Nevada’s busiest freeway ramp to close for 36 hours this weekend

The state’s most traveled freeway ramp will be closed for 36 hours this weekend as construction continues on the $1 billion widening of the Spaghetti Bowl interchange in downtown Las Vegas.

The ramp leading from southbound U.S. Highway 95 to southbound Interstate 15 will close at 10 p.m. Friday and reopen by 10 a.m. Sunday, Nevada Department of Transportation spokeswoman Adrienne Packer said.

About 3,141 vehicles use the downtown ramp during its weekend peak at 1 p.m. Saturdays, Packer said. Project Neon calls for widening four miles of Interstate 15 between Sahara Avenue and the Spaghetti Bowl interchange, which is the state’s busiest freeway interchange, used by 300,000 vehicles daily.

Detour signs will be posted during the closure, but motorists can exit U.S. Highway 95 and head south at Valley View Boulevard, Rancho Drive and Martin Luther King Boulevard. Southbound D Street will also be closed at this time between Washington Avenue and Interstate 15.
