Wranglers expected to announce coach's departure

Glen Gulutzan, the only coach in the six-year history of the Las Vegas Wranglers, has agreed to accept a head coaching position in the American Hockey League, the team is expected to announce at noon Tuesday.

Gulutzan, 37, guided the Wranglers to an ECHL-record three straight 100-point seasons from 2005 to 2008 and a 254-124-55 record overall. Named the ECHL Coach of the Year in 2006, Gulutzan also was selected to coach in the ECHL All-Star Game three times, tying a league record.

Gulutzan guided the Wranglers to the National Conference title and their first berth in the Kelly Cup Finals last year, and the squad reached the conference finals again this year.
