Illness forces star to miss rehearsal


An ailing Sierra Boggess, who co-starred in "Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular," missed the final dress rehearsal for Andrew Lloyd Webber's new Phantom musical "Love Never Dies," according to published reports. She was sick with a fever. Previews were to start today at London's Adelphi Theatre . Boggess, 27, born and raised in Denver, left the Las Vegas show to play the lead in "The Little Mermaid" on Broadway. The new Phantom is to open on Broadway in November.

THE SCENE AND HEARD

A Cirque du Soleil rep confirmed Sunday that the contracts for the dancers in Criss Angel's "Believe" at Luxor won't be renewed when they expire in July. "Cirque is working to redeploy them on other shows," said Merri Hagan, directing of marketing and public relations for Cirque's resident shows division. The move was part of changes that have been in the works for the show.

Don Rickles, tossing shout-outs during Saturday's show at The Orleans to a wife of the late Don Adams of the 1960s hit "Get Smart," Regis and Joy Philbin, and Ed Henry, CNN's senior White House correspondent. "He (Henry) gets better seats at an Obama news conference than at my show," Rickles cracked. Henry, who was in town to cover President Barack Obama's visit, got engaged Sunday to CNN producer Shirley Hung during a snowmobile ride that stopped atop a mountain overlooking Lake Tahoe. ... Paris Hilton, celebrating her 29th birthday Saturday at Tao in The Venetian with her boyfriend and parents Richard and Kathy Hilton. There have been Internet reports that the heiress and boyfriend Doug Reinhardt are shopping a reality show to be part of a blowout wedding this year. ... Eva Longoria Parker, accepting the Premio de Oro award for distinguished business leadership from the Latin Chamber of Commerce on Saturday at her restaurant, Beso, in Crystals at CityCenter. ... Wynonna Judd, in the audience at Angel's "Believe" on Saturday in Luxor. ... At the Palms on Saturday: Pittsburgh Steelers star Hines Ward, making stops at N9NE Steakhouse, Playboy Club and Moon.
