A stunning announcement that Anschutz Entertainment Group had plans to sell its assets was met, for the most part, with silence in Las Vegas.
There's little to say at this juncture, said one source, because a deal could take up to two years.
AEG's major Las Vegas asset is a partnership with Caesars Palace that allowed AEG to operate the 4,000-seat Colosseum, where Celine Dion, according to a source, is reportedly close to signing a long-term extension.
It remains to be seen if that deal will be put on hold.
It will be 10 years in March that Caesars Palace and AEG began their partnership with Dion.
AEG recently began operating The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel.
Would Caesars Palace step up and buy AEG's interest?
"That's usually the natural buyer," another source said. "But it could be up for grabs."
The one certainty, the source added, "it's going to have to go through the Gaming Commission."
AEG's holdings also include the Staples Center in Los Angeles, NHL's Los Angeles Kings, professional soccer team Los Angeles Galaxy, part-ownership of the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers, and major entertainment and real estate holdings in downtown Los Angeles.
It was mother-daughter night Wednesday at Tommy Rocker's on Dean Martin Drive for Wendy Mazaros' episode of "I Married a Mobster" on Investigation Discovery.
It's based on Mazaros' gritty book "Vegas Rag Doll," about her life with notorious hitman Tom Hanley.
Mazaros co-wrote the book with Joe Schoenmann.
Mazaros' daughter, Amy Hanley, is one of the five local women featured in the TLC reality show "Vegas High Rollers," which taps into the highly successful "Housewives of " genre.
Mazaros, who plays herself, is cast opposite Las Vegas actor Rusty Meyers.
If he looks familiar, that's because he was a featured security guard in the 2001 remake of "Ocean's Eleven" and played Col. Tom Parker in Cirque du Soleil's "Viva Elvis" at CityCenter.
Full disclosure: "Vegas Rag Doll" was published by Stephens Press, which is owned by Stephens Media LLC, owner of the Review-Journal.
