Tebow stayed at porn event's hotel

Some Tim Tebow followers will be happy to know he technically wasn't in Las Vegas on his recent trip.

He was in Paradise.

That's Paradise, the unincorporated 42-square-mile town that takes in much of the Strip, the airport and the Hard Rock Hotel , where he was staying.

That's the last place the media would have looked because, as it turns out, here's what Tebow probably knew when he checked in on Jan. 18: The Hard Rock was the host site of one of the world's largest porn conventions.

Veteran casino host Steve Cyr told a Las Vegas radio station on Friday that he saw the Denver Broncos quarterback walking through the casino the day the four-day Adult Entertainment Expo opened.

Most of the top porn stars in the world were in town for the Adult Video News (AVN) Awards.

Turns out there's an explanation why the army of photographers didn't get any money shots of Tebow in the company of the shady ladies.

A second source said Tebow, who was reportedly in town for a Nike shoot, stayed in a Hard Rock penthouse "most of the time.

"It was all hush-hush," the source said.

That was likely the night Tebow, his older brother Robby and three male friends attended Cirque du Soleil's "O" at The Mirage, snacking on popcorn and drinking water. They mentioned they were in town for one day.

Cyr, in an interview with Paul Howard and Seat Williams of ESPN affiliate KWWN AM/98.9 FM, said he was told Tebow didn't imbibe at the Hard Rock, was "hanging with some girls" and tipped well.

Cyr worked as a casino host at the Hard Rock for years and collaborated with Deke Castleman on the book, "Whale Hunt in The Desert: The Secret Vegas of Superhost Steve Cyr" (Huntington Press).

CASTING CALL OF THE WEEK

"Maersk Alabama," a film about the merchant ship hijacked by pirates in 2009, is searching for a specific type of characters to surround Tom Hanks.

According to the sheet: "We are looking for actual Merchant Marines -- not actors," people who can help Hanks "with real information."

One of the characters being sought: "Marv, 70; pleasant but useless -- a fairly old time sailor; a bit of a drunk. Six Lines."

Seems to me that could pass for a casting call for old sportswriters.
