YAMAGATA, GEORGE
GEORGE YAMAGATA George J. "Yam" Yamagata, of Las Vegas, born in Twin Falls, Idaho, June 19, 1927, passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at the age of 81. George attended school at the Idaho School for the Deaf and Blind in Gooding, Idaho. He retired as a dental lab technician in California and then moved to Las Vegas, where he resided for the past 18 years. George has been involved with the deaf community and was a member of the Las Vegas Club of the Deaf. He was a man that loved life and lived it to the fullest! He will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched. "Yam" is survived by his son, Benny (Lily) of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Laura, Alana, Benny Jr., Misa and Miko; sisters, Taeko (Roy) Nitta of Las Vegas, and Teruko Okada of Gresham, Ore.; and his brothers, Gene (Allyson) of Las Vegas, and Frank (Misa) of Twin Falls, Idaho. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4545 New Forest Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89147. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to LVCSD (Las Vegas Charter School of the Deaf), c/o Elaine B. Haines, President, 124 N. Tenaya Way, Las Vegas, NV 89145, in behalf of "Yam's" name.
