Your 2015 Christmas special viewing guide

For all the noise we make on New Year’s Eve, Las Vegas doesn’t have much in the way of Christmas traditions.

This year, though, the city is exporting some of its talent to help with one of the greatest Christmas traditions of them all: the holiday TV special.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade had a touch of Vegas with floats featuring Cirque du Soleil, Panic! at the Disco and Colosseum headliner Mariah Carey. Not to be outdone, Penn & Teller serve as grand marshals of the 84th Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade (8 p.m. Dec. 11, The CW).

Celine Dion performs as part of “Michael Buble’s Christmas in Hollywood” (8 p.m. Dec. 10, NBC), while Mirage headliners Boyz II Men salute the Peanuts gang on “It’s Your 50th Christmas, Charlie Brown” (8 p.m. Saturday, ABC).

Carey also directs and stars in “A Christmas Melody” (8 p.m. Dec. 19, Hallmark), about a Manhattan clothing designer (Lacey Chabert) who moves back to her hometown in Ohio.

North Las Vegan Buddy Baron wrote the script for “The Magic Stocking” (9 p.m. Dec. 6, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries), about a young widow who finds the true meaning of Christmas.

And Las Vegas native Amber Vadala vies for $100,000 and the title of America’s Best Santa in the competition series “Santas in the Barn” (9 p.m. Wednesday, truTV).

They’re some of the newest entries in this year’s cavalcade of holiday specials and movies that once again includes Rudolph, Frosty, Charlie Brown and dueling 24-hour marathons of “A Christmas Story.”
