Hip-hop stars J. Cole and Trey Songz support Colin Kaepernick

Hip-hop royalty J. Cole and Trey Songz wore Colin Kaepernick football jerseys on Vegas stages to show solidarity for the civil rights activist.

Cole wore a white No. 7 Kaepernick jersey while performing Sunday at Daylight Beach Club in Mandalay Bay.

Songz wore a red No. 7 Kaepernick jersey while singing at Drai’s nightclub in the Cromwell hotel.

Kaepernick, the San Francisco quarterback, and other athletes have been kneeling during the national anthem to protest law enforcement brutality and other offenses many people believe are committed against black Americans more than they are committed against other Americans.

On social media, there was far more support than opposition for Cole, Songz and Kaepernick.

It’s not surprising Cole wore the jersey. Cole gave civil rights advocates an anthem of his own with the heartbreaking song, “Be Free,” reaching many mainstream music listeners during a 2014 emotional performance on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” The song’s refrain:

“Can you tell me why/Every time I step outside I see my people die? … All we want to do is break the chains off/All we want to do is be free.”

DJ, STUCK IN PHILLY, MISSES VEGAS GIG

Martin Garrix was supposed to DJ Monday at Wet Republic dayclub/pool party, but American Airlines couldn’t get him out of the Philadelphia airport.

“Having the worst luck with planes the last 3 weeks. Currently stuck at Philly airport for the last 4 hours,” Garrix tweeted.

Later, he said his airplane boarded, then unboarded, because of a mechanical issue with an engine. He waited for other flights, but eventually announced the trip was axed and he hoped to make it up to fans.

Fergie DJ (not Fergie the singer) filled in for Garrix, who returns to Wet Republic Sept. 24.

Last month, Steve Aoki was late for his gig at Jewel nightclub because his flight from Miami was canceled. He had to scramble to book a private plane at the last minute, while fans tweeted impatience for his arrival.

‘THE SECRET CIRCLE’

Actresses Phoebe Tonkin, Shelley Hennig and Britt Robertson saw “Absinthe” and posted photos of each other in bed this weekend.

This is Vegas.

But the bed photos were lighthearted jokes about how they needed a post-party IV by their bed, with the actresses laughing, fully dressed, like the old days, when celebrities didn’t leak nude selfies on purpose for fame.

Tonkin, Hennig and Robertson co-starred on a supernatural CW show called “The Secret Circle” four years ago.

Tonkin is on CW’s “The Originals.” Hennig just won a Teen Choice Award for her work in MTV’s “Teen Wolf.” This year, Robertson starred in “Mr. Church” with Eddie Murphy and in “Mother’s Day” with Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston.

THE LOVERS

Mexican TV host Shanik Aspe and fiance Mauricio Odiardi spent Labor Day weekend in Las Vegas, posing for photos in front of the Pegasus statue in the Forum Shops at Caesars.

A few months ago, she and at least seven friends celebrated her bachelorette party here.

But her Vegas bachelorette wasn’t debaucherous, and she skipped the whole male stripper thing because she’s not into it, as she explained to TVNotas.com.

A LAS VEGAN AT HART

Kevin Hart wrapped up a long weekend of performing and clubbing by partying with the cocktail staff and dancing at Tao Beach dayclub.

Hart really got around in three days, also partying at: Tao nightclub (while standing on the DJ booth); Drai’s nightclub (engaging in a rap battle with Meek Mill); and Marquee nightclub.

He was in town for the third annual HartBeat Weekend comedy shows at The Cosmopolitan.

SIGHTINGS

Hakkasan/Omnia DJ Steve Aoki got a tattoo from Billy Greenway at Club Tattoo in Planet Hollywood on Sunday. No word on the tat’s what/where.

Rapper Yo Gotti took friends and family to Tao restaurant on Monday for satay of sea bass, chicken fried rice, and orange chicken.

Golden State Warriors’ Klay Thompson took friends to Topgolf Sunday night, his first trip back since July.

And hip hopper Busta Rhymes dined on wasabi filet and orange chicken at Tao, with friends in tow.
