Latino voting group opens chapters at UNLV, 9 other colleges

Voto Latino, a nonprofit organization, is launching 10 chapters on college campuses, including UNLV, to boost Latino voter participation.

The efforts will reach out to Latinos eligible to vote on and off campus, using voter drivers, a voter registration app, and online engagement, the organization said.

The chapters are starting shortly before the group’s Hispanic Heritage Month of Action, a voter initiative that takes place from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15.

Other chapters are at Oklahoma State University, Wichita State, the University of Arizona, University of Houston, University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley, Linfield College in Oregon, the University of Florida, Florida Gulf Coast University and the University of Pennsylvania.
