NRA to open Las Vegas office to defeat Question 1

The National Rifle Association plans to open a campaign field office in Las Vegas next week, with an eye toward defeating Question 1 in November through NRA Nevadans for Freedom.

The ballot measure, if approved by voters, would require criminal background checks on all gun sales, including private party sales.

The NRA has vowed to defeat the measure, and will use the office for its organizing efforts, which will include phone calls to Nevada voters.

The Tuesday event is open to the public. People can learn how to volunteer, and get bumper stickers, yard signs and literature.

The opening, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., will be at Bigfoot Business Park, 6375 S. Pecos Road, Suite 205, Las Vegas. An RSVP is required. You can RSVP at http://www.nrailafrontlines.com/southern_nv_office_opening_august_9th.
