Celebrities to golf for charity at MacDonald Highlands' DragonRidge

Kevin Sorbo, film and television actor known for his roles as Hercules, Kull, the Conqueror and Captain Dylan Hunt of Andromeda has taken on the role as spokesman for A World Fit For Kids! The Second Annual Kevin Sorbo Celebrity Golf Tournament to benefit the children's charity will be held June 10-11 at DragonRidge Country Club.

Interested golfers and nongolfers are invited to join Sorbo and a list of 30 celebrities and players including Dennis Quaid, Cheech Marin, Alice Cooper, Meat Loaf, Gregory Harrison, Oliver Hudson, Michael Chiklis, Joe Mantegna, Marcus Allen, Rollie Fingers and Jim McMahon to participate in two days and nights of golf, dining and entertainment hosted at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.

Events on Thursday will begin with a pairings party, dinner and live auction, special performances and comedy acts.

Events on Friday will feature a shotgun start and post-tournament cocktails at DragonRidge Country Club, then dinner at the Planet Hollywood Pool Deck with musical entertainment.

"This year, more than ever before, supporting A World Fit For Kids! through this tournament is extremely important" Sorbo said, "With recent federal, state and local economic crises, the thousands of youths that A World Fit For Kids! serves every day need our help to stay off the streets and in schools."

Since 1997, Sorbo has served as spokesperson for A World Fit For Kids!, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Los Angeles, which targets obesity in children and offers after-school programs to encourage physical activity, leadership and youth development training services nationwide.

Besides working closely with his charity, Sorbo will appear in six movies are due for release this year including "Hostage;" "Julia X;" "Tales of an Ancient Empire;" co-starring Christopher Lambert, "What If;" "The Kings of Mykonos;" and "Soul Surfer" co-starring Dennis Quaid and Carrie Underwood.

"I look forward to seeing you in Vegas and appreciate help in creating a world fit for kids," Sorbo said.

Players can enter as a single with a contribution of $1,000 per person or a $3,500 contribution per foursome. A VIP pass for $400 per person is available for those who don't golf to participate the pairings party, dinner and live auction and the dinner gala, awards and entertainment.
