KB to host open house in Henderson's Anthem Highlands today

KB Home will host an open house event at its Glengarry community in the Anthem Highlands master plan located in Henderson.

The event will be held 10 a.m.-7 p.m. today. Guests can enjoy a complimentary lunch served from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Located in Anthem Highlands, a Henderson master-planned community, Glengarry is within walking distance of a variety of shops and restaurants. Residents also enjoy access to a community park.

The two-story homes available at Glengarry are priced from the $150,000s.

Home shoppers have their choice of three floor plans with as many as five bedrooms, 2½ baths and two-car garages.

All homes include brick-paved driveways and select plans can be built with balconies or covered patios to enhance outdoor living space.

One plan also offers the option of a first-floor master bedroom suite.

All KB homes in Glengarry are designed to help homeowners save money on monthly expenses by earning the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star as well as NV Energy's Energy Plus certification.

Features like programmable thermostats, radiant-barrier roofing, low-e windows and efficient heating and cooling systems all help keep household utility bills low.

To better illustrate the advantages of such a home, KB Home now includes its Energy Performance Guide in all of its new homes.

Similar to an mpg sticker on cars, the EPG provides KB homebuyers with estimated monthly electric and gas costs for their new home as designed, as well as an estimate for monthly savings on energy costs compared to a typical resale home, according to company representatives.

The Glengarry sales center is located at 2833 Culloden Ave. in Henderson.

From the Las Vegas Beltway south, exit Eastern Avenue, heading south, pass Sunridge Heights Parkway, turn right on Sun City Anthem Parkway, right on Bicentennial Parkway and then left on Anthem Highlands to the sales center ahead on the right.

Since its founding in 1957, Los Angeles-based KB Home has built more than half a million homes.

Its signature built-to-order approach lets each buyer customize his or her new home from lot location to floor plan and design features.

In addition to meeting strict Energy Star guidelines, all KB homes are highly energy efficient to help lower monthly utility costs for homeowners, which the company demonstrates with its proprietary EPG, according to company officials.

A leader in utilizing state-of-the-art sustainable building practices, KB Home was named the No. 1 Green Homebuilder in a 2010 study by Calvert Investments and the No. 1 Homebuilder on Fortune magazine's 2011 World's Most Admired Companies list.
