The Candlelighters 5K & One Mile Race for our Kids will be held today in Exploration Park in Mountain's Edge. Participants must register between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. today. Race day registration is $40 and free for childhood cancer survivors.

The race and walk support children with cancer and their families through the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada.

In addition to the race and walk, other activities continue until 11 a.m. and include food and refreshments, raffle prizes including a Disneyland trip for four, children's play and art areas, bone marrow drive, 5K Plus Boot Camp Las Vegas obstacle course, awards ceremony and booths and exhibitors.

The Community Associations Institute, Nevada chapter has been an ongoing supporter of the Candlelighters' event and forms one of the largest corporate teams each year.

"It's really a breath of fresh air to see that even in this day and age when everybody is so consumed by rushing through things, working through lunches, and checking Facebook all the time that humanity and goodwill do still exist," said Eric Theros, a member of CAI's Outreach Committee. "We're proud that people in an industry as large as ours have chosen to take the time to do what's really important and give back to the community."
