Park at Southern Highlands opens

Southern Highlands introduced its new $1.5 million Dr. Harry B. Johnson Rose Park Sept. 1.

The new park in the master plan is located on Somerset Hills Avenue just off Southern Highlands Parkway in the southwestern valley.

The 2-acre park features a collection of 244 roses of 13 different varietals. Other special features include a covered play area, two picnic armadas, barbecue pits and a children's water feature.

In conjunction with the opening of the park, a $10,000 donation was made to Boys and Girls Club of Southern Highlands by Southern Highlands Development Corp.

To visit the park or Southern Highlands, take Interstate 15, exit at St. Rose Parkway and head north to Somerset Hills Avenue and turn west. For more information about Southern Highlands, visit southernhighlands.com.
