Women in Music and Arts is a new nonprofit foundation made up of dynamic and influential women in the performing, visual and literary arts.
The organization aims to advance awareness of the arts, strengthen community relations and recognize the contributions women have made in music and fine arts worldwide.
A recent late Sunday afternoon affair to promote the arts in our community and to raise money for the group's Foundation Arts Scholarship Fund was hosted at Sandra Marnell's lovely Southern Highlands home.
Las Vegas singer, songwriter and author Sandy Kastel, the organization's founder and president, greeted guests.
Kastel spoke about Women in Music and Arts' mission to provide opportunities to all artists through educational programs, mentorship, scholarships and community outreach programs.
Guests including Vicki Ham, Patricia Martinelli, Joyce Sherman, Cam Usher, Carole Bellmyre, Les Chism, Jan Wood, Chelette LaPorta-Contesse and Lena Walther, honorary consul of Sweden, enjoyed a performance by pianist Rick DiBella and Lisa Davis as well as wine and appetizers by Any Thyme Catering.
Attendees also admired and bought beautiful paintings, sculpture, landscape photography, handmade jewelry and purses.
Seen among the featured artists representing all mediums were Terry Ritter, Anita Getzler, Linda Knudson, Jennifer Main, Dori Miller, Karla Rehm, Niki Sands, Patricia Savage, Paula Thompson, Sladjana Vukovic, Rosita Kanes, Eileen Hayes, Kastel, Marnell, Jane Radoff, Tanya Nikolic, Gabriella van Rij and Halleh Seddighzadeh.
