51s’ bats come alive late to beat Dodgers

The 51s’ bats were held quiet in Saturday’s Pacific Coast League loss to Oklahoma City, with the team unable to take advantage of late opportunities.
But on Sunday, the 51s did most of their damage late, scoring eight runs in the sixth through eighth innings in a 9-7 victory over the Dodgers at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.
Las Vegas took a lead in the second inning, but starter Seth Lugo surrendered three runs in the bottom of the frame, walking a batter with two outs and then allowing four straight hits.
Lugo gave up another pair of runs in the third before exiting.
But the 51s clawed their way back from the four-run hole, taking advantage of a fielding error in the sixth and scoring twice in the inning.
Though they stranded the bases loaded in the sixth, a Dilson Herrera two-run home run tied the game an inning later and Travis Taijeron and Roger Bernadina also drove in runs in the seventh.
The 51s then scored two runs in the eighth on a wild pitch and T.J. Rivera single.
Three different players — Herrera, Rivera and catcher Johnny Monell — had multihit efforts and Bernadina finished just a home run short of the cycle as the 51s evened up the series.
