Houston’s Fiers tosses no-hitter

HOUSTON -- Right-hander Mike Fiers no-hit the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday, pitching the Houston Astros to a 3-0 win.

Fiers struck out 10 while walking three, putting a stamp on the feat by sitting down Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner with a K to complete the feat.

Fiers issued the first of his three walks with two outs in the first inning when Turner coaxed a base on balls. Right fielder Andre Ethier walked to open the second, and center fielder Joc Pederson reached on a leadoff walk to open the third, but from that point Fiers clicked. He retired the final 21 batters he faced.

It was the fifth no-hitter of the year, and the second in nine days in the majors.
