Mountain Ridge rolls over Northern California

Brennan Holligan’s two-run home run in the top of the fourth inning broke a 2-2 tie and Mountain Ridge Little League added nine more runs to rout Pacifica, Calif., 13-2 Tuesday in the Little League West Regionals in San Bernardino, Calif., and improve to 3-0.

Winning pitcher Bradley Stone helped his own cause with a triple to center field later in the fourth and then stole home to give Mountain Ridge a 5-2 lead. In the fifth, Austin Kryszczuk hit a grand slam to make it 9-2. Mountain Ridge added four more in the top of the sixth as it overwhelmed the Northern California representative, which committed four errors and dropped to 1-2. Kryszczuk would go 2 for 3 with five RBI and Andrew Matulich had a double and three RBI. Stone was 2 for 4 and Josiah Cromwick was 2 for 2 as Mountain Ridge rapped out 13 hits.

Stone pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowed six hits and two runs while striking out four. Josh Zuehisdorff pitched two scoreless innings and struck out four as Mountain Ridge maintained its perfect record heading into Wednesday’s 8:30 a.m. game against Encintas, Calif., the Southern California representative.
