By Richard Eng

Post Time 1 p.m.

Race 1 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $54,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up

6 Genius - Bob Baffert has a bunch of live ones in today; tactical speed to sit a perfect trip.

5 Soul Candy - Adding blinkers on after a dull trip in last; hoping for a little more hop in the step.

Long Shot - 4 Groovin’ Solo

Race 2 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Claiming $8,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

2 Pincelada - Speedy sort has run 3 good races in a row; will take them as fast and as far as she can.

8 Michailasheartlite - Dead late closer figures to see plenty of pace from the chalk; will be rolling fast in the lane.

Long Shot - 1 Meadow Lake Queen

Race 3 - 1 mile (turf), $300,000 Shoemaker Mile, 3-year-olds and up

5 Obviously - Logical chalk may be the best turf miler in the West; no one will be dumb enough, or brave enough, to duel him.

2 Za Approval - Dead late closer ships in from Belmont Park for this; the locals are glad Wise Dan didn’t ship in instead.

Long Shot - 1 Jeranimo

Race 4 - 6 furlongs, Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

1 My Sweet Addiction - No shame chasing Midnight Luck in debut; that one went on to win the grade 1 Acorn at Belmont Park.

4 Nickels Wild - Adds blinkers on so she should be sharper tonight; like that Gary Stevens takes the call.

Long Shot - 6 Not My Tap

Race 5 - 1 3/16th miles (turf), Purse $54,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up

2 Vibrato Jazz - Dead late closer should get a cozy trip from post 2; will save all the ground and grind to the wire.

6 Diamondsdiplomat - Speedball lead for a mile in last, too bad the race was a lot longer; will try the tactic again.

Long Shot - 4 Stoney Fleece

Race 6 - 5 furlongs, Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies, 2-year-olds

1 Smoove It - Ran OK in career debut for third; Doug O’Neill babies typically improve with experience.

10 Say’s Who - Chalk gets respect for Rafael Bejarano and Peter Miller; your edge is seeing the tote board action on the FTS.

Long Shot - 3 Moving Desert

Race 7 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $54,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

3 Ostourah - Bob Baffert has an uncoupled entry so caveat emptor; beaten favorite is adding blinkers on tonight.

1 Sweet Lulu - Jerry Hollendorfer baby looked like a runner and delivered in debut; high ceiling for this well bred baby.

Long Shot - 4 Tres Belle

Race 8 - 1 mile (turf), Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up

1 Oak Kye Why - Speed and the rail are always a dangerous combination; hugs the white fence and goes as far as he can.

8 Fear the Beard - Has tactical speed to sit a perfect trip; Rafael Bejarano has a chance for a monster day today.

Long Shot - 7 Deacon Speakin’

Race 9 - 7 furlongs, $250,000 Triple Bend, 3-year-olds and up

2 Jimmy Creed - Has proven his class as a grade 1 sprinter; can lead early or sit a trip, Gary Stevens replaces Garrett Gomez.

7 Centralinteligence - Second best to Comma to the Top in the Los Angeles; tactical speed to sit a perfect trip.

Long Shot - 9 Camp Victory

Race 10 - 7 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up

8 Budding Affair - Taking a huge class drop for Bobby Troeger; a repeat of his last race would probably crush these.

11 Spectacularjourney - Interesting rider switch to Edwin Maldonado for the money shot; he’ll put this guy into the race.

Long Shot - 4 Affirmed Arch

Best Bet - 2 Jimmy Creed (race 9)

Hollywood Park Friday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/3/$18.40; Long Shots, 7/1/$10.60; Best Bet, 1/0/$0

Hollywood Park Totals - 654/165/$1,065.80; Long Shots, 315/43/$472.00; Best Bets, 38/13/$56.80

SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY - #6 I’m Mom’s Favorite (4/1) in race 9 at Belmont Park. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Friday, Litigate won at Belmont Park paying $4.20 to win, $2.90 to place and $2.10 to show. Stats - 104/68/$506.60; Follow him on Twitter: @richeng4propick
