Former UFC champ Holly Holm: ‘You’re never promised another opportunity’ at a title

Talk has ramped up that a win on July 23 may get Holly Holm another title shot, but the Albuquerque-based fighter refuses to look past her opponent. Holm will headline UFC on Fox 20 against Valentina Shevchenko in Chicago, Illinois.

Additionally, Shevchenko discusses how much her training camp and mental state was affected when her coach was shot in Lima, Peru, during a robbery at a chicken restaurant. He and Shevchenko were in the restaurant when the shooting occurred. Shevchenko walked away unscathed.

Amanda Nunes became the UFC women’s bantamweight champion when she knocked out Miesha Tate at UFC 200. At UFC 193, Holm handed Ronda Rousey her first career loss to take home the title. She lost the belt when she was submitted by Tate at UFC 196.
