Middleweight Adam Hunter pulled from UFC debut for potential USADA violation

Middleweight Adam Hunter’s UFC debut will have to wait.

He has been pulled from a scheduled bout against Ryan Janes on Saturday’s UFC on Fox 21 card in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, after the UFC was notified of a potential violation by the United States Anti-Doping Agency.

Hunter and Janes had both already weighed in for the bout, which was to take place on the non-televised portion of the preliminary card.

According to a statement from the organization, Hunter was flagged for an out-of-competition sample collected on Aug. 11.

USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC’s anti-doping policy, will handle the adjudication of Hunter’s case.

The substance that triggered the positive test was not revealed.

“Consistent with all previous potential anti-doping violations, additional information or UFC statements will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward,” the statement read.

Hunter faces a suspension of up to two years. Janes will be paid the show portion of his purse.
