Nevada fishing report, Oct. 15
* LAKE MEAD — Striped bass have been biting on swimbaits and Spinnows. Bigger fish still are holding in deeper water, though fish should begin moving into shallower water soon. The jig bite continues to work for bass but in shallower water. Anglers are finding good action for smaller smallmouth bass, with 2- to 3-pounders in the mix.
* LAKE MOHAVE — Mornings and evenings have been the most productive for bass, though some have had luck in the afternoons. Fish caught in deeper waters are averaging about 3 pounds. Top-water lures have yielded the best response.
* LAUGHLIN — Catfish and striped bass are biting along the Colorado River. Stripers have been coming from the deeper waters and are taking anchovies.
* LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS — Catfish have been taking hot dog chunks, night crawlers and mealworms at most of the ponds since the season's final plant last week. Largemouth bass are taking night crawlers at Sunset Park. Those wanting to use lures can try throwing small spoons or spinners. Please remember to discard used fishing line in a trash container or a fishing line receptacle. The latter are painted bright yellow.
* KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA — Fishing has been good on the area reservoirs. Rainbows are taking a variety of flies and lures. Anglers also have caught fish while fishing with PowerBait and night crawlers from the dams.
* EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR — Fishing was good this past week, with the hot lure being a ¼-ounce Mepp's spinner in gold. Water levels have dropped, but the average trout is 12 inches. All park facilities remain open despite cooling overnight temperatures.
* ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR — With cooling water temperatures, the crappie and bass action has slowed while the trout action has been heating up. The fish are hitting on a variety of small spinning lures and spoons. Fly-fishermen have been doing well using small Woolly Buggers in green or brown. All facilities in the park are open.
