Band Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. changes its name

Gentlemen, start your name change.

The Detroit-based indie rock duo known as Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. is changing its name. From that, to just Jr. Jr.

It has nothing to do with any legal hassle from the NASCAR star. Far from it.

"€œI thought it was clever, and I personally have no problem with your band‘s name,"€ Dale Earnhardt Jr., known as quite an indie rock enthusiast himself, wrote to the duo in 2011. "€œYou will not hear from any lawyers on our end should you choose to keep the name."

According to Internet reports, musicians Joshua Epstein and Daniel Zott said the name was creating confusion, especially among stock car racing fans who had driven a long distance to acquire an autograph on a Fram oil filter.

In a semirelated note, an electric folk trio known as Danica Patrick Patrick said it would keep its name, and was reported to have said over its in-car radio that Jr. Jr. can go **** itself **** itself.
