FINAL REPORT: Boise State 48, UNLV 21
After a closely contested first half, the fifth-ranked Broncos dominated after halftime to remain unbeaten.
Boise State (8-0, 3-0 Mountain West) outscored the Rebels 27-7 in the second half.
Kellen Moore threw for 224 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Broncos.
UNLV (2-6, 1-2) trailed just 21-14 at the half and led Boise State in nearly all statistical categories at the break.
All the Rebels could muster in the second half, however, was a 13-yard touchdown catch by Phillip Payne with 30 seconds remaining in the game.
Caleb Herring completed 12 of 17 passes for UNLV, but left the game in the fourth quarter after taking a big shot on a late hit.
Tyler Shoemaker and Matt Miller each had two touchdown catches for Boise State.
END OF THIRD: Boise State 28, UNLV 14
The fifth-ranked Broncos scored the only points of the third quarter and are on the verge of putting the game away as the fourth quarter begins. Kellen Moore threw his fourth touchdown pass of the day to put Boise State ahead 28-14. The Broncos have the ball second-and-goal from the 5-yard line as play begins in the final period.
HALFTIME REPORT: Boise State 21, UNLV 14
The fifth-ranked Broncos grabbed the lead just before halftime on a 5-yard pass from Kellen Moore to Matt Miller, the second time the two hooked up for a touchdown in the second quarter.
The Rebels stayed close throughout the first half, but fell behind just three plays after a questionable pass interference call set Boise State up inside the UNLV 10-yard line.
Moore has thrown for 142 yards and three scores for Boise State.
Michael Johnson scored the lone UNLV touchdown of the second quarter on a 33-yard pass from Caleb Herring after barely staying in bounds on the catch and then sprinting down the sideline.
The Rebels outgained the Broncos 198-161 in the first half.
It looks like a Boise State home game at Sam Boyd Stadium as kickoff nears, with blue-clad fans easily outnumbering those wearing UNLV red.
Broncos fans have a lot to be excited about, watching their fifth-ranked team play 42-point underdog UNLV with Kellen Moore needing the victory to become college football's all-time winningest quarterback. Moore is tied with former Texas star Colt McCoy with 45 victories.
