Wranglers lose regular season home finale

Chase Schaber’s four goals helped the Bakersfield Condors defeat the Wranglers 6-5 Tuesday as Las Vegas closed out the home portion of its 2013-14 ECHL regular-season schedule at the Orleans Arena in front of 4,164.

The Condors built an early 2-0 first-period advantage only to see the Wranglers’ Chris Francis cut the lead to 2-1 with what would be the first of his three goals. However, the Condors extended the lead to 5-1 late in the second period as Schaber completed his hat trick. After Francis and Matt Tassone scored to pull Las Vegas within 5-3 5:17 into the third period, Schaber scored a power play goal for his fourth of the night to give Bakersfield what would ultimately be the game winner.

The Wranglers, who have the worst record in the ECHL with just 45 points, tried to rally late as Shawn Skelly scored with 1:09 to play and Francis earned his hat trick with 25 seconds left. But despite outshooting Bakersfield 27-26, the Wranglers could not send the game into overtime.

Las Vegas finishes its season with five road games, beginning Saturday in Bakersfield.
