BASEBALL: 10th-inning outburst gives Shadow Ridge win

Shadow Ridge’s baseball team rallied for seven runs in the top of the 10th inning on Wednesday to earn a 12-5 road victory over Arbor View.

It was the second consecutive extra-inning game between the teams. Arbor View won 11-10 in eight innings on Tuesday.

Trent McGregor, who was 5-for-6, led off the 10th with a double, and scored the go-ahead run on a single by Bryson Barnes. Justin Lee added a two-run single, and the Mustangs added runs on an error and RBI singles by Dylan Baker and Vinny Archer.

Trujillo was 2-for-5 with a triple and five RBIs, and Kristian Saldana was 2-for-5 with a run for Shadow Ridge.

K.C. Philippou threw three hitless innings of relief to get the win.

Jesse Pierce was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and Joe Fitzhugh was 2-for-5 with a double for the Aggies.

Green Valley 11, Silverado 1 — At Silverado, A.J. Amelburu was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs to lead the Gators past the Skyhawks.

Frankie Fitzgerald was 3-for-4 with a triple, a run and an RBI for Green Valley.

Matt Gilbertson went 2-for-4 with a double, and Drake Maningo and Matt Uran each drove in two runs for the Gators, who scored four runs in the top of the seventh.

Gilbertson pitched a six-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks to get the win.

Kevin Pindel was 2-for-3 with a double, and Payton Ballard went 2-for-3 for Silverado.

Las Vegas 6, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Trey Chauncey threw a six-hitter with 12 strikeouts and one walk to lead the Wildcats past the Pioneers.

Leonel Anaya and Carlos Martinez each supplied an RBI double for Las Vegas, which got two hits from Ray Ramirez.

Damien Brown was 3-for-3 to pace Canyon Springs.

Centennial 10, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Cimarron, Kyle Horton went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs to lead the Bulldogs over the Spartans in five innings.

Gino Sabey was 2-for-3 with two runs, and Tanner Wright went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI for Centennial.

Zack Simon allowed four hits in 3⅔ scoreless innings to get the win.

Bishop Gorman 16, Durango 3 — At Durango, Dutch Landis was 2-for-2 with two homers and three RBIs to help the Gaels to the five-inning win over the Trailblazers.

Bryce Ruggeroli was 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs, and Tyler Curtis was 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI for Gorman.

Steven Giatti went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Durango.

Liberty 14, Valley 1 — At Valley, Michael Wong went 2-for-2 with a double and four RBIs to help power the Patriots to a five-inning rout of the Vikings.

Ryan Meservey was 2-for-2 with three RBIs, and Dylan Miller supplied a run-scoring double for Liberty, which had three pitchers combine on a two-hitter.

Legacy 15, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Legacy, Diego Portillo went 2-for-2 with two doubles, three runs and three RBIs as the Longhorns routed the Crusaders in three innings.

Willie Valdez-Grijalva was 2-for-2 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs, and Dante Williams was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBIs for Legacy, which had a pair of seven-run innings.

Fabian Torres added two hits and two RBIs, and Anthony Lomeli doubled and drove in two runs for the Longhorns.

Johnny Ball pitched a three-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks to get the win.

Boulder City 7, Prairie View (Colo.) 3 — At Boulder City, Noah Higgins was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and two RBIs as the Eagles beat the Thunderhawks.

Preston Van Diest was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs, and Teddy Lobkowicz was 1-for-1 with two runs and an RBI for Boulder City.

Jake Hubel allowed a run on four hits over six innings to get the win. Hubel struck out nine with no walks.

Wooster 8-1, Palo Verde 6-4 — At Palo Verde, the Colts scored two runs in the top of the 12th on a pair of two-out errors to defeat the Panthers in the opener.

J.D. Brooks went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs for Palo Verde, which committed seven errors.

Brooks was 2-for-3, and Asher Bouldin was 1-for-1 with a double and an RBI to lead the Panthers to the win in the second game.

Tanner Lewis allowed an unearned run on three hits to get the win in Game 2. Lewis struck out five and walked one.
