Death and taxes: It’s not about care, it’s about cost

The astute editorialists at Investor’s Business Daily today weighed in on a topic I and many others broached earlier in the week, addressing New York Times columnist and economist Paul Krugman’s pejorative terminology on a Sunday talk show in which he basically endorsed "death panels."
This after pilloring Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for using the phrase.
Krugman has said someone will have to decide how much we taxpayers are willing to pay for "extreme care." One person’s extreme care is another’s life-or-death decision. By another name that is a death panel, just as Palin said.
IBD unearthed her original quote:
"The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s ‘death panel’ so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their ‘level of productivity in society,’ whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil."
When you dive into Obama’s risk pool, someone else get’s to decide whether you are a productive enough member of society to save or let drown. How would you rate on a scale of 1 to 10?
