Ontario 6, Wranglers 5

■ NOTES: At Orleans Arena, the reeling Wranglers rallied for four goals in the third period, but they weren’t enough to offset Kyle Kraemer’s five-goal night for the ECHL Western Conference-leading Reign (22-5-4, 48 points), which dealt Las Vegas (8-19-3, 19) its franchise-worst ninth straight loss. … Kraemer, who netted three power-play goals, scored twice in the first period and twice in the second to put Ontario ahead 4-1. He added a length-of-the-ice, empty-net goal in the final minute to seal the victory. … The Wranglers scored three straight goals in the third — two by Jeff May and one by Geoff Irwin — to make it 5-4 before Kraemer’s empty netter. Chris Francis scored with three seconds left for Las Vegas, which had two goals in its previous three games. … John Armstrong scored on the power play for Las Vegas to make it 2-1 in the second. … Adam Hughesman was stopped by Reign goalie Michael Hutchinson on a penalty shot early in the second. … The Wranglers signed center Anthony Perdicaro, who had an assist in his first game for Las Vegas after compiling eight goals and 18 points in 27 games this season for St. Charles of the Central Hockey League. … The Wranglers will host Ontario today in their last home game until Jan. 31.

■ THREE STARS: 1. Kraemer (five goals), 2. Eric Springer (three assists), 3. May (two goals).

■ LAST WORD: “It’s not easy to find a lot of positives, but we showed some fight in the third,” Wranglers coach Mike Madill said. “We scored four goals in the third against the best team in the league. It’s a good thing we play them again (today). If we start the way we finished, this could be the turning point in our season.”

■ NEXT: Reign at Wranglers, 7:05 p.m. today, KVMY (12)
