TV reporter robbed during live report on robbery

KTVU reporter Heather Holmes and her camera man were doing a live report on a robbery outside the Oakland police headquarters on Monday night when she became a victim of robbery herself.

According to the Huffington Post, following her live report, Holmes returned to the TV truck and noticed her purse was missing.

“R u kidding me? Doing a live report at @oaklandpoliceca headquarters & my purse is stolen from the live truck! We were parked outside #OPD!!,” Holmes tweeted following the incident.

And the thieves didn’t waste any time with the contents of her purse.

“Oh the irony of it all…while reporting on violent mugging, my purse is stolen. Thieves used my bank card 20 mins after swiping my bag,” Holmes tweeted.

Holmes didn’t want the attention surrounding her, though, and turned the focus back to what happened to the woman beaten and robbed earlier that day.

“While it’s a bummer that my purse was stolen, it doesn’t compare to what purse snatcher’s did to this woman,” she tweeted on Tuesday afternoon. “She was beaten about the face & head for her purse in #Temescal. @oaklandpoliceca responds & says it will increase patrols in the area,” Holmes continued.
